Mecobalamin (JPXIV)
Mecobalamin is a CNS or Central Nervous System Drug used in Peripheral neuropathy, and Diabetic neuropathy etc. The drug is also used for treating vitamin B12 deficiency. It is a kind of endogenous coenzyme B12. Mecobalamin plays an important role in transmethylation as a coenzyme in the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine. The drug is well transported to nerve cell organelles, and promotes nucletic acid and protein synthesis.
